Zirconium 702
Density: 6.5 g/cc
Melting point: 1852°C
Maximum service temperature: 550°C / 1020°F
UNS No: R60702
Zirconium 702 (Zr702) is a commercially pure Zirconium. Zr702 has the best corrosion resistance than Z704 and Zr705 but the lowest tensile strength. It exhibits good ductility even at cryogenic temperatures and good strength comparable with other common engineering alloys. Zirconium is a reactive metal that has a high affinity for oxygen resulting in the formation of a protective passive oxide film in air at room temperature. This passive film gives zirconium alloys their superior corrosion resistance.
