Unalloyed Pure Tantalum
Tantalum is a rare, hard, blue-grey, dense, lustrous metal that is renowned for its high temperature and corrosion resistance, high density and dielectric strength.
It is a metal very hard, malleable, ductile, easily fabricated and highly conductive of heat and electricity. Tantalum is one of the most inert, unreactive metals ever known.
Tantalum is selected and used for its corrosion resistance, thermal conductivity, high melting point, and ability to form a dielectric oxide film.
Unalloyed tantalum includes two major ASTM grades: R05200 which was produced by electron beam melting (EBM) and R05400 by powder metallurgy (PM). In ASTM B708, tantalum for thin film deposition requires a higher purity which is 99.95% and 99.99%.
HEXON manufactures and offers unalloyed tantalum in either milled or custom forms, such as Plate and Sheet, Rod and Bar, Wire, Tube, Fastener, Crucible and other customer tailored shapes.
HEXON starts production from powders (Ta2O5). The complete in-house processing from powders to EBM / Sintered ingots can assure us to fulfill technical requirements per either ASTM or customer’s individual specification.
